Blessed Amongst Women are a three-piece acoustic band playing a mix of country, Irish music, folk, classic rock and a bit of pop.
Cousins (more like sisters) Siobhra and Becka Conway started out years ago learning guitar from their uncle Swive, who used to joke he was “blessed amongst women” sitting between them – even though they were all related. Ironic, so the name stuck. After he passed in 2018, they stepped away for a while, but over the last couple of years they’ve found their way back to the music. They enjoy performing the classics from the 70s, 80s, and 90s that make you feel nostalgic; covering songs from the likes of Fleetwood Mac, the Cranberries and Joni Mitchell.
Now it’s the two cousins on guitars and vocals, joined by Jimmy the H on harmonica, who they met through sessions along the way. He adds that wholesome folk feel they were missing.
